Do I need a Doctor’s referral?

While it’s always a good idea to consult with your primary physician, Hawaii is one of the few states where you can have direct access to physical therapy without a doctor’s referral. This means that you can seek out a physical therapist directly, without having to wait for approval from your primary care physician. However, insurance companies vary and some require a doctor's referral for insurance coverage.  If you do have a referral from your doctor, please bring it with you to your first appointment.  If you are unsure whether your insurance has direct access or requires a doctor's referral then please feel free to call us to inquire.
